BioGrafi : Jacob (aka “Jake”) is impulsive, impatient and strong-willed. He’s a member of the Quileute tribe, and when he hits puberty, he discovers he has inherited the genes that turn him into an enormous, powerful werewolf – part of a pack that protects the tribe from vampires. Unlike humans, werewolves have incredible healing abilities, high body temperatures and do not age quickly. As a pack they use telepathy to communicate thus are able to hear each other’s thoughts.

Jacob is heartbroken at the news of his best friend Bella’s engagement, and disappears for months into the Canadian wilderness (in wolf form). He returns for the wedding reception, only to be angered again by Bella’s foolhardy decision to remain human during her honeymoon. Later when he discovers Bella’s pregnancy, he is furious with Edward but unable to stay mad at Bella. When the pack learns Bella is pregnant with a vampire child, Sam decides the child is a risk and directs the pack to destroy Bella and the child. Unwilling to accept Sam’s alpha orders, Jacob taps into his rightful Alpha status (according to lineage, Jacob should be both the Alpha and the Quileute chief ) and defies Sam’s authority, breaks away from the pack and goes to protect Bella and the Cullens from Sam’s threats. In the process, Seth and Leah Clearwater follow Jacob thus starting a new pack with Jacob as the Alpha leader. In the process of protecting Bella and the Cullens during her pregnancy, Jacob’s bond with the Cullens grows in importance.
